Debut as Daland in Wagner’s “The Flying Dutchman”. Opera Vlaanderen (Gent, Antwerp) 2016

In autumn of 2016, the opera “The Flying Dutchman”, created by R.Wagner on the basis of G. Heine’s novel “The Memoirs of Mr. Shnabelevsky”, which takes its origins from many legends about the “Ghost Ship”, was successfully staged at the scene of the Opera Vlaanderen in Gent and Antwerp. For Dmitry Ulyanov it was the debut in the role of the Norwegian sailor Daland – the father of Senta, who sacrifices herself to save the Flying Dutchman and his team.

Performances were held on October 20, 23, 26, 29, November 2 and 4, 2016 in Antwerp and on November 15, 18, 20 and 22, 2016 in Gent. Conductors – Cornelius Meister and Philipp Pointner. Director – Tatiana Gurbacha. In the lead roles, in addition to Dmitry, were engaged: Liene Kinca – Senta, Ladislav Elgr – Eric, Jan Paterson (20, 23, 26, 29 of October and 2, 4, 15 of November 2016 г.) and Markus Marquardt (18, 20, 22 of November 2016) as Dutchman.
