Announcement of the new season 2019-2020.

Dear friends!

We are honored to announce Dmitry Ulyanov’s new season!

The season 2019-2020 Dmitry will open by performing two different roles on two different stages, in two different productions of the same Verdi’s opera “Don Carlos”: the audience will be able to see him as the Grand Inquisitor at the Vienna State Opera on September 6, 9 and 12, 2019 (director – Daniele Abbado, conductor – Jonathan Darlington), and on the stage of the Teatro Real in Madrid he will perform the role of king Philip II on September 29 and October 04, 2019 (conductors – Nikola Luisotti, Diego Garcia Rodriguez, Director – David McVicar).

Then Dmitry will go to Paris to start rehearsing the role of Prince Galitsky in a new production of Borodin’s Opera “Prince Igor” on the stage of the Bastille Opera. Performances will take place from late November to late December 2019 (Conductor – Philippe Jordan, director – Barrie Kosky).

In February 2020 Dmitry will please the moscow audience: he will play the role of the Varangian guest in the new production of the N. Rimsky-Korsakov’s opera “Sadko” staged by D. Chernyakov at the Bolshoi Theatre. Performances will be held from 14 to 19 February.

In March 2020 Dmitry will make his stage debut at the Bavarian State Opera with one of the most difficult bass roles of Tsar Boris in the Mussorgsky’s opera “Boris Godunov”. Performances will be held on March 20, 23 and 27. Stage director – Calixto Bieito, conductor – Mikhail Yurovsky.

Immediately after Munich, Dmitry will go to Canada. There he will start rehearsing the role of Daland in a new production of Wagner’s opera “The Flying Dutchman” (conductor – Johannes Debus, Director – Christopher Alden). Performing on the stage of the Canadian Opera in Toronto will also be the stage debut for Dmitry. Performances will be held 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 13 and may 16, 2020.

Rehearsals of Rimsky-Korsakov’s opera “The Golden Cockerel” will begin in Aix-en-Provence from the 17th of May. In this new production Dmitry will play the role of Tsar Dodon. The dates of the performances will be announced later.
