Winter has come to an end, and with it a series of performances of Dmitry Ulyanov on Moscow stages: January 19 he performed at the Jubilee Concert of the opera diva Hibla Gerzmavа on the stage of the State Kremlin Palace. On February 14, 15, 16 and 18 he performed the role of The Varangian in a D. Chernyakov’s new production of opera “Sadko” at the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia. Also in February Dmitry pleased his fans by performing the part of Raymondo in the opera “Lucia di Lammermoor” and 4 villains in the opera “Les Contes D’Hoffmann” at the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Music Theatre. In Helikon Opera Dmitry took part in the gala concert for the anniversary of E.Brazhnik, which featured artists from four musical theaters, where the famous conductor worked. Also on the stage of the Helikon Opera there was a famous director Andrejs Jagars tribute, which was attended by his friends, colleagues and students.
Now Dmitry has gone on a long tour, and the Moscow public will be able to see him only in the new season.
On March 6 and 8 Dmitry Ulyanov will perform Gremin from Tchaikovsky’s opera “Eugeny Onegin” at the Grand Concert Hall of the Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon (director – Christiina Helin, conductor- Lorenzo Viotti).
In April Dmitry will go to Canada to start rehearsing the role of Daland in a new production of Wagner’s opera “The Flying Dutchman” (conductor – Johannes Debus, Director – Christopher Alden). Performing on the stage of the Canadian Opera in Toronto will also be the stage debut for Dmitry. Performances will be held 1, 3, 6, 9, 12, 14 and 16, May 2020.
Rehearsals of Rimsky-Korsakov’s opera “The Golden Cockerel” will begin on the 17th of May at the opera festival in Aix-en-Provence, France. In this new production by famous director Barry Koski, Dmitry will perform the role of King Dodon. The performances will take place on 2, 4, 7, 9, 11 and 14 July 2020.
And in August 2020 Dmitry will return to the stage of one of the world’s most famous annual summer Salzburg Festival, which will celebrate its 100th anniversary in the coming year! At the Festival Dmitry will sing the part of Pimen in Mussorgsky’s opera “Boris Godunov”. The main roles will also be performed by Ildar Abdrazakov (Boris Godunov), Yulia Mazurova (Fedor), Dmitry Golovnin (Vasily Shuisky), Pavel Chernoch (Pretender Grigory), Agunda Kulaeva (Marina Mnishek) and others.
